Responsibilities
The Development Officer is responsible for providing hands on support to member credit unions either in terms of financial strategy, business planning and fund-raising or in terms of detailed training and advice for Boards and volunteers. In addition, the Officer is responsible for the management and finances of the SLCU, the day-to-day operation of the Death Benefit Trust and the operation of the SLCU Back Office system for FedComp.
Detailed responsibilities would include, but not be limited to:
· overall management of SLCU financial and administrative systems;
· promoting, publicising and marketing SLCU in both its social and enterprise activities.
· supporting in person, by telephone or by training SLCU credit unions, Boards, staff and volunteers;
· servicing, supporting and advising SLCU Board of Directors
· networking with local and national statutory and voluntary and, as appropriate, private sector organisations to establish partnerships which facilitate the development of SLCU
· monitoring and contributing to relevant local and national policy developments and representing SLCU on various local and national committees;
· creation of a back office system to support SLCU credit unions running the FedComp computer software. Management and maintenance of the IT framework
· co-ordination of the SLCU Death Benefit Trust and support to the Trustees in their decision making process
Person Specification
The Development Officer will be required to demonstrate the following skills, experience and personal attributes:
· experience /awareness of the importance of credit unions and social enterprise
· experience and/or qualification in: Business/Enterprise; Finance; Management or similar;
· ability to support and supervise staff, an effective team worker and manager;
· a commitment to the ethos of SLCU;
· IT skills at a level where the individual can supervise the Back Office system
· experience/ability in promoting, publicising and marketing.
· good interpersonal skills
· friendly, outgoing personality, capable of dealing constructively with difficult situations;
· driving licence (essential);
· experience/ability of organising and delivering training;
· ability to establish and oversee financial and administrative systems;
· effective networking skills and a commitment to partnership working;
· able to work on own initiative in a pressurised circumstance and take responsibility for a variety of activities;
· effective organisational and logistical co-ordination skills;
Salary and Benefits
Salary commensurate with age and experience
25 days holiday per annum plus statutory holidays
All expenses necessarily incurred will be refunded including a mileage allowance
